Amsterdam Travel Guide
By The Travel Guy

Church of the SouthFamous for its canals, museums and historical places, Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, which is situated in Western Europe. The Netherlands is bordered by the North Sea in the west and north, Belgium in the south and Germany to the east.

Amsterdam is the largest city in the Netherlands and attracts over 3.5 million tourists every year. It is a city that has a sound tourism infrastructure. Amsterdam witnesses less traffic jams as compared to other cities, because its canals work as highways.

The Euro (€, EUR) is used in the Netherlands, which is also used in almost all countries within the European Union.

When to go
The city buzzes with tourists around Easter and July-August. But there are many, who love to drink alongside the canal and grab a bite during summer. Those looking for easy outing can travel to Amsterdam during winter, when the crowd is thin and most tourist places deserted. Take your pick.

Amsterdam transport
Red Light DistrictSchiphol Airport is one of the biggest airports in the world that connects the city to other parts of the globe. The airport is 18km (11mi) southwest of the city centre. Many airlines fly to Amsterdam but if you are looking for cheaper options to get into the city, flying to a nearby city like London will be a good idea. From here you can take a bus or train to reach Amsterdam. Train is another convenient mode of travel within and outside Amsterdam. The Central Station is efficient and beautiful, and you can take Eurostar train to Britain. Exploring the city with a bicycle is an exciting idea. Ferry is another good mode of transport. You can take a ferry from Amsterdam to visit Norway and Britain.
